Make some star blocks with a dark background fabric, add some plain dark fabric blocks, then quilt with light thread, fill in the larger blank areas of quilting with stippling in a thread to match the background fabric.
I like both these designs.

I started playing with custom designs quite a fair while ago, and drew up a lot of pieced blocks with just vertical and horizontal lines to use. This morning I decided to try using one of them to introduce a new collection of blocks.
One of the first problems is that the blocks placed in assorted rectangles get rather distorted, so I spent time to redraw some blocks. Need more practice with this great idea.
I am rather pleased with the second design, though I admit that several versions got deleted along the way.

The petal designs were inspired by String of Beads when I started playing with the shapes of the beads.
Love the design above.
Love the second design too!

So pretty and dainty. I think I may be repeating past comments about the designs in this project file.
More of the same … dainty and pretty, and in my late Mum’s favourite colours.

Colours are not very inspiring, but I rather like this project file, including the two designs selected for today.
The first one is my favourite.

Love that circle which is visible around the centre.
Love the almost invisible sashing in these designs, with very visible sashing becoming a feature of the overall layout.

Pretty colours.
Both designs would need some background filler quilting, my choice would be cross hatch.
Very nice!
Interesting that the green in the borders take away some of the prettiness.

This project file began with a selection of applique blocks from the Electric Quilt block library.
The blocks have been twisted and turned to create dozens of variations of most of those, including quilting motifs.
Some of the blocks now bear very little resemblance to the original, though some of the shapes have changed very little.
I love the second of today’s designs.

Love the design above, and I am interested in what it might look like with a colour update, but at this time of the year I am not getting a lot of play time at the computer. Something to add to the list of things to do in 2023.
Second designis also interesting, and would like time to play with the contrast as well as the colouring.

Oh, so pretty!
I would like to make it a little more interesting to make a real version … there are too many of those five petal flowers … though I don’t mind the quilted only ones.
Would be more interesting to make but a bit too busy for my liking.

I like the first design, but it is very busy!
Love the second design. Room for the quilting to shine.

Interesting, and I like everything about it except the choice of background fabric.
I like the second one too.

A block design made up of squares and rectangles can be used as layouts for whole quilts, and I had fun designing a whole heap of blocks especially for this purpose. This project file is all basic pieced blocks used for the layouts.
I have used low contrast backgrounds for some of the blocks to make use of the block shapes to add a different design feature to the designs.
I like both of these, but like the first more than the second.

Love it … love green, love quilting, love designs which are not your average design.
Ditto the above!!
